UC Mobile (Chinese: UC优视; UC for short) is a Chinese software company, primarily known as inventor of UC Browser, the most popular mobile browser in China. [1] The company has its headquarters in Guangzhou, and also has offices in Wuhan, Beijing and Chengdu, People's Republic of China. UC Mobile's stated vision is "with technology help users enjoy mobile web"[2].
UC Mobile has got four rounds of financing.
In 2006, UC received a four million Yuan angel investment from the current president LEI Jun and other investors. In December 2006, LEI Jun, the current president and other investors injected capital of 4 million Yuan into UC Mobile on behalf of Angel investors,which provided significant support for the development of the company.
In August 2007, Ceyuan Ventures, a famous venture capital investment institution, injected capital of 4 million U.S. dollars into UC Mobile, while Chenxing Investment injected 6 million U.S. dollars. The total investments of 10 million U.S. dollars provided a powerful driving force for the development of the company.
On June 3, 2009, UC Mobile formally accepted the strategic investment from Alibaba Group, Chenxing Investment and Ceyuan Ventures. Meanwhile, UC would carry out multi-faceted strategic cooperation with Alibaba, and work together to create a mobile platform for e-commerce.
On Mar 30, 2010, UC Mobile announced that it has reached a strategic financing agreement with Nokia Growth Partners and to further develop the mobile internet market together. Granite Global Ventures also participated in the round.
